If your vehicle pulls to one side or vibrates at speed, it is tempting to book an alignment and hope that fixes it. Alignment and tire balancing address different conditions. Describe the symptom to your advisor so the shop can determine which checks are appropriate before you choose a service.

What does a wheel alignment do?

Alignment checks and adjusts wheel angles against the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. Incorrect alignment can contribute to uneven tire wear, pulling or an off-center steering wheel. The condition of steering and suspension components also matters, so ask whether anything needs repair before an adjustment.

Learn about wheel alignment at Express Auto Repair and tell your advisor about a recent pothole impact, curb contact or change in handling.

What does tire balancing do?

Balancing addresses weight distribution in a tire-and-wheel assembly. An imbalance can cause vibration, particularly at certain road speeds. Balancing does not adjust wheel angles, and an alignment does not correct a weight imbalance.

Our tire-service page explains the services available at Galley Road and Montebello Lane. If your concern started after tire installation or a wheel impact, mention that when you book.

Describe the symptom rather than guessing the repair

These symptoms can overlap. They help the shop plan the inspection; they do not prove which part or service will solve the problem.

Questions to ask before approving service

Ask what the inspection found, whether an adjustment or balancing is recommended, and whether worn or damaged components need attention first. Have the advisor explain what is included in the estimate and how the result will be checked.

Also share the vehicle’s recent history: new tires, a tire rotation, suspension repairs or an impact. Bring any prior alignment or tire-service paperwork you have. That information can make the conversation more useful than simply asking for the lowest alignment price.
